Completion of the Dorothy Page Health Center

This camping season is Camp Hunt’s 62nd!  Praise the Lord!  Over the years thousands of young people have begun relationships with the Lord and His people that have transformed their lives.

Camp Hunt is able to minister the way it does because of generous support from members of churches of Christ.  The registration fee of $185 per camper (which has not been increased in a couple of years) does not come close to covering the operational expenses of camp, and it certainly does not cover the cost of construction projects, like the Dorothy Page Health Center that is presently under construction.

Therefore, each Spring we make a special appeal for the projects scheduled for that year.  We encourage the churches in the state that benefit from Camp Hunt’s ministry to take up a special collection for this effort.  We are encouraging congregations to choose one of these two Sundays for the collection, either March 29, 2009, or April 5th, 2009.

This year the board has designated the funds from the Spring Collection to be used for operational expenses and for the completion of the Dorothy Page Health Center.  So far just over $50,000 has been spent on the DPHC project.  In the November fundraising letter sent to supporters we estimated that an additional $35,000 was needed to complete the project.  We are thankful and happy to report that the November appeal yielded $13,000.  Therefore, we are still in need of an additional $22,000.

In order to use the building when the camping season opens at the end of June, a considerable amount of work needs to be completed.  Volunteers will be busying themselves in the coming weeks installing insulation, windows, plumbing, and sheetrock.  We are praying and trusting that we will have the needed workers and funds to complete this project.

We know that these are tough economic times, but we trust that God is able to supply what is needed through His people.  Please prayerfully consider this need and as you are able, contribute.  When writing checks for this Spring Collection, please make them out to Camp Hunt and make note in the memo area that it is for the “Spring Collection.”
