Construction of a New Swimming Pool

This camping season is Camp Hunt’s 66th!  Praise the Lord!  Over the years, the lives of thousands of children and adults have been blessed through the ministry of Camp Hunt.

Camp Hunt is able to minister the way it does because of generous support from members of churches of Christ.  The registration fee for a week at camp does not come close to covering the operational expenses of camp, and it certainly does not cover the cost of construction projects.

Therefore, each Spring we make a special fundraising appeal to cover the projects and operational expenses designated by Camp Hunt’s Board of Directors for that year.  We ask the Christians who believe in and benefit from Camp Hunt’s ministry to make a contribution.

Last year’s Spring Collection covered the upgrades on Grindley Auditorium. We are so pleased with how well the project went. The new siding and soffit look great and the expansion of interior space and the new entrance will serve us very well. As always, last year’s Spring collection also went towards other program improvements (like the Frisbee Golf course, and additional recreation equipment), and operational expenses. We were so blessed by the generous donations that went well beyond our goal of $14,000!

This year the board has designated the funds from the Spring Collection to be used for construction of a new swimming pool in 2014, and for other program improvements, and operational expenses. The preliminary estimates suggest that around $100,000 will be needed for the pool project. If you wonder why the cost would be that high, then keep in mind that we have to build a large commercial grade pool that will fit up to 50 swimmers, and that it must meet all the regulations for a public pool. Also there will be the cost of a building to house a bathroom, chemical storage, and the pump, not to mention a new septic field or tying the pool into the existing field. It is a much larger project than any residential pool would be. Fundraising for the new pool will include: focusing the annual Spring collections for 2013 and 2014 on the pool, a timber cut of camp’s property, and other appeals to donors and foundations. Also, our endowment fund trustees have informed the board that monies from the endowment fund will be available for use on the pool. Our goal for the Spring Collection is $14,000.

We trust that God is able to supply what is needed through His people.  Please prayerfully consider this need and contribute as you are able.  When writing checks for this Spring Collection, please make them out to Camp Hunt, Inc. and make note in the memo area that it is for the “Spring Collection.”

With hope and joy,
David Owens, President
